First and Foremost a Mama

A Mamanista is first and foremost a Mama...and so we support important causes, especially those that help out the most vulnerable.

So, when I saw that this week's Crazy Hip Blog Mamas carnival was about worthy causes, I was excited to share the charity dearest to my heart.

Because Baby Diva was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, the charities the phrase "dearest to my heart" takes on a literal ring. I will tell you more about Baby Diva's heart defect over at Mama Saga.

Here on Mamanista, however, we wanted to choose a charitable cause that has touched many hearts and saved millions of tiny lives: First Candle. Their message is simple but their impact is enormous: through research and education campaigns, they help babies survive and thrive and reach that first candle and beyond. I can only imagine the pain of a parent who has lost her precious child. First Candle reaches out to comfort and support those who have experienced this loss and works to prevent others from having to endure this horrible suffering.

We have supported First Candle in the past and have plans to continue to help them spread their message in the future. I hope you will visit First Candle and learn more about their campaigns to prevent infant mortality and protect our littlest ones.
