Sure, babies are super cute, but Mom deserves some swag, too. Gliders are a wonderful way to show mom you appreciate her. Pregnant moms, nursing moms, and moms who just need a break will love a glider.
Newborns are soothed by rocking and many babies nurse better with a little motion. Gliders are also a serene retreat for the adults in the family.
Baby Diva and I relax in the Storkcraft Hoop Glider & Ottoman in Cherry with Beige Cushions from MiniTots (pictured) or Shop.com for just $169.95. I love the rich look of the dark wood against the comfy beige cushions. The textured fabric is easy to clean and looks like you spent a lot more. This glider will coordinate with any decor and you have a choice of wood finishes and fabric colors. So, you can place the glider wherever you find you are nursing baby most often.
There are pockets on either side of the chair for a blanket, diaper, burp cloth, or other supplies.
Putting together the glider was simple (Granny and I managed just fine, thankyouverymuch), but did require some concentration and time. The ottoman arrives intact so you just have to attach the back and arms to the glider base and you are ready to take a nap.
Make sure you get a glider with an ottoman or purchase the matching ottoman–elevating your feet is key to the whole relaxation experience.
If you want a fully reclining Ottoman, Jardine Enterprises’ Natural Deluxe Lock Recline Glider Beige Micro (pictured) may be the choice for you for $329.99 from Babies R Us.
I have not tried out the Jardine Enterprises Classic Glider Rocker and Ottoman Honey Finish Beige, but for $87.84, it is a real budget option.
Both for early assembly and for your own enjoyment, I recommend choosing and ordering your glider well before your due date. Gliders aren’t just for mommies and babies–pregnant moms-to-be will appreciate a place to put up their feet and relax. Even Granny grabs Baby Diva and head for the glider when she visits. This glider will have a place in our house for many years.
