The scent of hay, peanuts, and cotton candy immediately brings me back to the circus. I can vividly recall the antics of the clowns, the grace and courage of the acrobats, and the awesome power of the animals.
Our family would take the train into Madison Square Garden and see the whole place transformed into a wonderland of childhood fantasies. At the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, nothing was as it seemed–in fact, it was much, much better.
As a special birthday treat (for me) this October, I’m going to relive a little of that childhood excitement and awe with my babies. This will be Baby’s First Circus! We’ll see all of the toddler’s favorite animal performers, enjoy special circus treats, and ooh and ahh over every miraculous feat.
All you have to do is be a willing believer, and you enter into a world of circus magic. For one entrancing moment, anything is possible. People soar! Animals roar! And the crowd cries out for more! Then, in a flash and a puff of smoke, the illusion fades. Even when the circus leaves town, though, the memories will continue to grow and capture the imagination.
You can make lasting circus memories with your family, too. Because it truly is the greatest show on earth.
