It’s easy to get nice but inexpensive presents for friends and family members who live nearby. I often stop by Trader Joes or Costco to pick up a bouquet of flowers (less than $10) before meeting a friend for a birthday lunch or for drinks to celebrate a promotion or engagement.
But what do you do for friends who live out of town? Having flowers delivered costs at least $30? And most websites require you to spend at least $25 to get free shipping on other presents. While I splurge on presents for two or three of my closest friends, it can become prohibitively expensive to spend that much for every friend’s birthday, special occasion, or holiday present. So what do you do if you want to send a little more than a card while keeping within your budget?
Sock Gramsare inexpensive, quality gifts that cost less than $12– including shipping! I recently received a Sock Gram, which included a pair of novelty socks, a personalized card and a pack of foot balm — all wrapped in tissue and shipped in a mylar envelope for a pretty presentation. The SockGrams.com site has a wide selection of socks for women, children, babies and men. You can pick something that reflects the recipient’s personal interests for a thoughtful and useful gift.
I received the Handbags & Purses socks ($11.95), which reflect my love of shopping, and Baby Mwah received the a set of 6 Baby Mickey Mouse High Top Socks by Trumpette ($25.99 including shipping). There are lots of cute holiday socks for Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day as well as Teacher Appreciation Socks, sports related socks, and even Republican or Democrat socks for those obsessed with the upcoming election.
I added www.sockgrams.com to my del.icio.us bookmarks because I’ll definitely be using this site for my holiday shopping!
