Hop…Hop…Hop…Get ready to do the Bunny Dance! Playhouse Disney’s hit series Bunnytown will be available on DVD starting March 17th. I got a chance to preview Bunnytown: Hello Bunnies last week. The catchy tunes and colorful bunnies had me and my three-year old product tester hopping, dancing and singing along.
Silly skits teach subtle lessons about sharing and teamwork. Bunnytown: Hello Bunnies isn’t educational fare on the level of Signing Time on PBS or something similarly brainy. But it’s sweet, funny and family-friendly.
I view Bunnytown as the Lucky Charms of TV shows. General Mills might tout Lucky Charms for being made with whole grain, fortified with vitamins and minerals and being a good source of calcium. But everyone knows that kids like Lucky Charms because of the colored sugary marshmallows. There are moms out there who would forbid their children from ever tasting Lucky Charms. And there are moms who believe that an occasional bowl of sugar cereal is acceptable. I put myself in the latter category.
While many of my friends only let their children watch purely educational or foreign language DVDs, I am ok with watching fun TV shows in moderation solely because they are enjoyable and family-friendly. I grew up watching the Smurfs as well as reading and visiting museums. And I’m glad that my parents let me be a kid. If you feel the same way, you’ll enjoy Bunnytown: Hello Bunnies with your young children. This DVD would be a perfect Easter present or addition to your DVD library. DVD extras like the “Bunny Dance” add to the enjoyment and get you and your kids moving to the bunny beat.
