On Saturday, Candace and I attended a fabulous event called Getting Gorgeous, which was organized by two amazing blogger friends Audrey McClelland of Mom Generations and Vera Sweeney of I’m Not Obsessed, Lady and the Blog and Babyrazzi.
It was a wonderful opportunity to mingle with fellow bloggers as well as surprisingly-approachable and down-to-earth beauty experts like celebrity hairstylist Sarah Potempa and fashion stylist Amy Tara Koch while sampling cupcakes, snacking on yummy guacamole and Mexican food from BJs and sipping on Simply Orange juice.
Amy Tara Koch is the author of Bump It Up— a style guide for pregnant women. I knew she was cool the minute I saw her cupcake table! Clearly, she knows what pregnant women like…cupcakes and easy, non-fussy clothing.
My baby is due in just a few days, so Amy gave me great tips on what to wear during the “4th trimester” (that time after you give birth but before you fit into your pre-pregnancy clothing). She had a rack of clothing by Isabella Oliver, which is one of my favorite maternity brands, and pointed out pieces like long-sleeved tshirt dresses with ruched details that would work as transitional outfits when paired with affordable statement necklaces or colorful scarves from stores like Old Navy and Target.
The team from Belli Pregnancy was there to share samples of their most popular products including their Acne Clearing Facial Wash, which I used during both of my pregnancies. I particularly liked the moisturizing hand sanitizer, which is a true diaper bag essential if you’re a bit germophobic like me.
Since pregnancy isn’t very glamorous, it was fun to attend an event all about fashion and beauty. And the team behind Getting Gorgeous understands that we need someplace to go after we get all dressed up. They found a perfect sponsor in Restaurant.com, which provided $100 gift cards to all attendees.
I was thrilled to get a Restaurant.com gift certificate because I know that $100 spent there goes a long way. If you were careful about shopping for deals, you could easily get well over $1000 of food for $100. For example, you can save 70% off most Restaurant.com $25 Gift Certificates if you use promo code PLATE at checkout now through 4/10/11. Yes…you can get $25 of food for just $3! It’s a great way to eat out without breaking your budget, and that means you can save your money for spa treatments (or your child’s college fund).
