We’ve enjoyed being a part of the Random House Read & Play Summer Fun Community and chatting with moms about their favorite books, how they encourage their children to read and the way they can use books to discuss difficult topics like bullying. We also talked about how much we treasure the time spent reading with our children– whether it’s snuggled up in bed, cuddling on the couch or sitting at the kitchen table. Reading with our children sets them up for educational success, but moms treasure children’s books because they strengthen our bond with our children.
Since we treasure our childhood memories of reading favorite books with our parents, we want our children to have the same positive experience. Sadly though, many children do not own any books. First Book is an organization that donates books to children in need. Please join in on the discussion about First Book here. Random House will donate a book to First Book for every comment made through August 28th.
And there’s also something in it for you: Random House is giving away an iPad 2, and today is the last day to enter. Click here to enter the iPad 2 giveaway. Be sure to follow the Random House Kids on Facebook and Twitter for more information.
