Among women, breast cancer is the most prevalent of all cancers.
In 2008, it caused close to 500,000 deaths and negatively affected the lives of millions. Although positive steps are being made every day in the treatment and prevention of breast cancer, the only thing that will continue this progress is increased awareness.
Early detection of the cancer is key to a recovery and few women regularly get mammograms to monitor their health. By increasing awareness around healthy steps such as this or common risk factors, steps can be taken to permanently eliminate breast cancer.
The Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation for breast cancer is trying to raise an army of one million women to show support for those who have dealt with breast cancer, along with their families. To join is free, although the support is priceless.
For every woman that joins the army through LifetimeMoms.com, Lifetime will donate $1 per woman to the cause. On October 26, join Lifetime Moms on a life-stream web chat with Dr. Love, who will be taking questions from individuals and readers.
