When I found out I was pregnant (with my first child!) I was OVER THE MOON. Then (with total vanity) I screamed “Please heaven above, NO stretch marks!”
Pregnancy is a huge blessing, particularly if you’ve been waiting awhile like my hubby and I have. But no matter how many books you read, horror stories you hear, tips you pick up from your friends or family, one can’t be fully prepared for the major changes to your body. Suddenly veiny chests, odd wrinkles around the neck, spider veins and dimples on the legs, and of course: possible stretch marks on the tummy.
Which is why Mama Mio is a true gift for moms to be (cue choir singers!)
Mama Mio makes this incredibly creamy decadence, all part of a Pregnancy skin care line. The company is pretty fantastic: created and run by women for women, no matter what stage of life you’re in: young skin, pregnant skin, post baby skin, aging skin: they have something for all of us.
I experimented with the Pregnancy Essentials Kit which contained: Boob Tube, Tummy Rub Butter and Lucky Legs cream. Amazing value for $28.
The packaging itself already makes you feel like a glamorous celebrity: bright and full of glittery images. It even has a morale booster on the top: “Please use with JOY and accept our heartfelt congratulations on your amazing achievement.” I already loved it before I opened it.
Let’s start with the Boob Tube: Besides a genius name, this stuff really works. Made with antioxidants, avocado oil and shea butter, the minute I popped the top off, the smell was subtle and spa-like. Instantly relaxing. Rub the cream on your chest and neck to give you firmer, fitter and glowing skin. It’s also preventative for post-baby droop. Your boobs are growing by leaps and bounds. When you’re holding your precious bundle, those stretched out puppies will need all the help they can get. Boob Tube even has a hint of sparkle to catch your partner’s eye. When you’re feeling about as sexy as a raisin, you’ll be amazed at how quickly you’ll shift gears. Suddenly I’m wearing low cut shirts to show off my new assets and leaning provocatively against the kitchen counter while grabbing my prenatal vitamins (wink wink).
The Lucky Legs cream is an amazing find: not only can you actually feel it tingle on your legs, a really great sensation when you’re exhausted, but it helps prevent any discoloration, spider veins, or any other random rashes that might pop up. Meant to revive tired legs, Lucky Legs has a blend of safe essential oils to provide instant relief for exhausted, swollen, heavy or hot legs. It has a minty fresh smell that’s addicting.
Now to my favorite: Tummy Rub Butter. With so many tummy creams out there, it’s daunting to find one that works, let alone what works for you. Mama Mio makes it easy to fall in love. Gorgeously thick, I put it on after every shower to fight against any upcoming/possible stretch marks. Rich with Omega and Shea Butter, rub it all over your torso twice a day. Bonus: it relieves itchy tummy skin. Hey, you’re being stretched, things could get itchy! I honestly feel like a champion when I put it on every day. I feel like I’m actively doing my part to save my skin.
The kit is a wonderful gift and an amazing introduction to the line. You can also get each individual product mentioned separately. So if there’s one you’re absolutely addicted to, stock up on as much as you want.
Now, I don’t know whether or not a C-section is in my future, but if it is, I’m already planning on getting the See-No-Scar Solution. You may also want to include the Get Waisted body shaper and the Bootcamp for Butts in your future registries to help with post-baby skin control.
BONUS: Mama Mio donates a percentage of their sales to the cancer charity Look Good…Feel Better® (LGFB). This international charity goes into cancer hospitals worldwide and helps women who have been undergoing cancer treatments. LGFB will go in with a team of beauty experts to help restore women’s confidence; show them how to wear a wig, how to apply makeup and use skincare to literally put on a brave face.
A wonderful product line you will be proud to support. Butter up ladies!
