I’ve used Arm & Hammer Baking Soda for years as a deodorizer in my refrigerator and freezer because the baking soda neutralizes and absorbs food odors.
I was recently challenged to use Arm & Hammer Baking Soda in a new way in the home. Before the challenge, I hadn’t realized how many uses there were for baking soda. Arm & Hammer has a “Solutions” website that lists a wide variety of ways to use baking soda. I was most intrigued by the Nursery uses.
Arm & Hammer Baking Soda can be used to clean baby toys and equipment, deodorize diaper pails and even to freshen stuffed animals or to clean carpet spills. Baking soda is an inexpensive way to clean up after baby without harsh chemicals.
My teething baby puts everything in his mouth, and I’ve searched for ways to keep his toys clean. I often use dishwashing soap to clean plastic toys, but I’m switching to a solution of 4 tablespoons Arm & Hammer Baking Soda dissolved in 1 quart warm water. To clean stuffed animals, I’ve used my washing machine or spot cleaned with water. I’m going to test Arm & Hammer Baking Soda as a stuffed animal cleaner by sprinkling the animals with baking soda, waiting 15 minutes and then brushing off the residue. I’ll report the results of both of my experiments in a future post.
