The Jersey shore is NOT like MTV’s The Jersey Shore. As a Philly native, I grew up vacationing at family-friendly resorts in New Jersey like Cape May and Ocean City. When I was younger, Atlantic City and its smoke-filled casinos had a seedy reputation. It’s time to give Atlantic City a second look.
Remember when Times Square in New York was sleazy, crime-ridden and full of prostitutes and porn shops? Times Square is now a model of urban revitalization, and Atlantic City is undergoing a similar transformation with new resorts like Revel and a brand-new Boardwalk light and sound show.
This 4th of July, I’ll be heading to Atlantic City with my family to visit the amusements at the historic Steel Pier on the boardwalk, eat ice cream on the beach and watch the fireworks as well as the brand new light show by Moment Factory—the same light-and-sound artists who lit up Madonna on her latest tour.
This free light and sound show will premiere on the 4th of July after the fireworks at Atlantic City’s historic Boardwalk Hall. It’s free to attend, and you can find details here.
