This summer, Redbox is kicking off its “Summer Family Fun” program. In addition to releasing eight new family-friendly films for rental from Phase 4 Films (I Heart Shakey, Rockstars, Space Dogs, Smitty, Kiara, My Friend Bernard, Freddy Frogface and Donkey X), RedBox is hosting a series of exciting sweepstakes inspired by these fun movies for you to enter!
The amazing prizes described on “Redbox Summer Family Fun” include:
- Round-trip tickets for 4 to Toronto for the chance for secure a walk-on role on Nick Jr.’s Dino Dan show (open June 17 – July 8 2012)
- A four day West Coast Princess Cruise for four with round trip airfare (open July 9 July 29, 2012)
- A seven day vacation for four to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida (open July 30 August 26, 2012)
Phase 4 sent my family a Rainy Day S-O-S Kit full of movie fun. On rainy days (or during a bad heat wave), my boys and I like to turn the living room into a make-shift movie theatre. We close all of the blinds, pop some popcorn, and turn on a flick. Our S-O-S Kit came in handy in our “cinema” last week! We munched on theatre-style snacks, made a fort with a cozy fleece blanket, and popped in a Phase 4 movie: Space Dogs!
Space Dogs is an animated movie based on the true story of Belka and Strelka, two Russian dogs sent to space in 1960. (Spoiler alert: they make it back to Earth safely, so your kids won’t be traumatized if you rent this movie!) My four year old loves dogs and spaceships, so he really enjoyed the movie. Like other direct-to-DVD movies, Space Dogs isn’t going to win the Oscar for best animated film, but it was fun and appropriate for children. My four year old gave it two thumbs up. We haven’t finished watching all eight films, but I can report that he also liked “I Heart Shakey” and “My Friend Bernard” because these two films also feature dogs.
