“Henry! Don’t be horrid!”
We recently had the awesome opportunity to preview the book-turned-movie Horrid Henry: The Movie before it is released onto DVD on March 12. The DVD package arrived complete with “horrid” items, sure to be Henry (and kid) approved: a hand buzzer, water balloon maker and the Horrid Henry DVD with it’s Green Goo holder. A great Family Movie Night was sure to be store!
First, check out the trailer:
Horrid Henry is the creation of Francesca Simon. The creative and humorous book series is wildly popular among young kids, and perfect for a range of readers from beginning to advanced. The movie adaption keeps in perfect spirit with Henry’s horrid and mischievous ways! The story starts with Henry bothering his neighbor, Moody Margaret, and her friends before school. We meet Henry’s family (including his brother, Perfect Peter) and his classmates (including his teacher Ms. Battle Axe wonderfully acted by Anjelica Houston). Here is a quick synopsis (so as to avoid any spoilers!):
When Henry fails yet again to hand in his homework for the umpteenth time, he inadvertently sets off an unexpected and curious chain of events. He forms an unlikely alliance with Moody Margaret, the infuriating girl next door, wins a talent contest, and stands up to his ultimate nemesis. With each antic crazier than the last, Henry finds himself inexplicably trying to save the very school which he has always professed to hate!
As the mother of 2 boys, it’s easy to see why kids quickly rally behind the character of Henry! Instead of sticking to his horrid ways, he finds himself an opportunity to be a hero and save his school. The movie is fast paced, energetic and has lots of sights and sounds to entertain kids of all ages.
Horrid Henry: The Movie will be available for purchase at Walmart stores starting on March 12, 2013.
Disclosure: I was given a copy of the DVD to review as well as a Horrid Henry gift pack. All opinions expressed are my own.
