My daughter is the most beautiful person I know. Sounds like a bit of a cliche, I guess, but when Seventh Generation asked me to share with you the most beautiful person in my life, all I could think of is her smile, her compassion, and her clever mind.
She’s young, of course, which brings with it invisible pores, a boundless sense of optimism, and a flexibility of mind that I admire.
More than that, it is the way she always has a song in her heart and a dance in her step.
She finds beauty in nature and everywhere she looks.
I want her to know that this beauty is inside her, too. That beauty is not in the shape of her nose, the color of her skin, and the straightness of her teeth but in her character, her love, and her imagination.
I want her to know that she can put on a fancy dress if she wants but she does not have to dress-up to be a princess in my heart.
I want her to know that she can take care of her skin not so she can appear beautiful to others but so she can stay healthy. Ever since I found out I was pregnant with her, I have been trying to use more natural products, for my children’s sake and mine. Now, as a mother of three, I continue to seek natural products to keeping those smiling little faces clean and healthy.
I hope that by avoiding chemicals of concern from our health and beauty products, we can reduce the incidence of birth defects and cancer in our world and keep our environment clean.
I want to leave my daughter a world filled with as much beauty as I see in her.
