Muddy puddles made their way into my house this last week in the best possible way: in a book called Peppa Pig and the Muddy Puddles, which I received for a book review — to be completed by the most stringent of critics – my boys. At age 2 & 5, they let me know quickly if they like an item or not.
Peppa Pig is best known for its hit television series; and now, Peppa is taking a leap off the small screen and into the pages of this clever hard-cover children’s book that celebrates the values of family, friendship, fun and humor.
In the story, Peppa is very excited about the rain and the prospect of her favorite activity -jumping in muddy puddles. But, the rain doesn’t stop until the puddles become a lake and their house, along with all the houses in the town, becomes islands.
The good thing is that Grandpa and Granny Pig have a boat when means the family can get everything everyone needs from the store and save the town but much to Peppa’s chagrin, there are really no puddles to jump in since everything is so deep.
What’s Peppa to do? She was able to help everyone but now there’s still no puddles and she’s so tired and it’s time to go to bed.
But, morning comes and the flood waters are all gone; AND, much to Peppa’s delight, there is the PERFECT muddy puddle right by their house. Perfect for a fun, messy, day of play – a story that completely resonated with my boys who love playing and getting messy.
One of MY favorite parts about the book is something I found when I removed the book jacket so it wouldn’t get torn. Much to my delight and surprise, I found a Peppa Pig coloring page on the inside of the jacket. So cool.
We also received an adorable plush Hug ‘n Oink doll to play in real time. No muddy puddles for this doll though. I want her pretty pink to stay pink!
(Disclosure: I received a sample of Peppa Pig products for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.)
Friend Peppa on Facebook for fun activities and chances to win Peppa Pig prizes and follow them on Twitter for some fun, lively Peppa conversations.
