Every mom knows that for children to become strong readers, they need books: new, high-quality books they’re excited to read. But for children in low-income families, books can be scarce. In some of the lowest income neighborhoods, there is only a single book for every 300 kids.
First Book, a nonprofit social enterprise that has teamed up with Disney Junior, provides brand-new, high-quality books to teachers, volunteers and community leaders who work with kids in need. Disney Junior recently launched a really amazing initiative to get new books for kids in need.
The Give a Book, Get a Book program works like this:
1. Purchase any Disney Junior product from the Disney Store and receive a special code on your receipt
2. Enter that code at www.giveabookgetabook.com
3. Then choose a part of the country that you want to receive a book
If you have any reason to shop at the Disney store, birthdays, back to school, etc. be sure to take advantage of an opportunity to give back and earn a fun reward for your efforts from Disney Junior. Disney hopes to donate one million books through this effort, let’s help them get there!
