I have always loved Halloween.
It’s been one of my favorite holidays for as long as I could remember. As a kid, I always had the best and most creative costumes.
Once I hit adulthood, I made the transition to anything “sexy” for Halloween. I figured it was my one-day pass to dress more informal with very little judgement. Now that I’m over 40, I’m reconsidering the sexy costumes and going for creative and clever. With that being said, here are the top Halloween costumes for 2018!
Mother of Dragons
Game of Thrones has a lot of characters that are Halloween costume-worthy. But Daenerys Targaryen stands out as one of the most easily identifiable characters. It can be a great mother/child costume, too if you want to include your own little dragon in your costume. There are so many variations that can make this costume original and fresh, A long, blonde wig with interesting braids and a flowy, gauzy dress will have everybody calling you Khaleesi!
Marilyn Monroe
Another blonde bombshell makes our list of top Halloween costumes. A platinum wig, a white dress, red lipstick, and an artfully applied mole and voila! Instant Marilyn.
Jessica Rabbit
Old Hollywood glamour and sequins? Yes please. Sign me up! While this costume may border on the inappropriate side, it is certainly one that is bound to be remembered. A bright red wig, purple gloves, and red sequined dress round out this costume. Make it a couples’ costume by having your significant other dress as none other than Roger Rabbit!
Wonder Woman
It wouldn’t be a list of top Halloween costumes without one of the most iconic woman heroes of all time. While this costume may not be exactly like the original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, it’s super easy to do yourself. It’s definitely a fun and flirty costume without being overly revealing. If your whole family is dressing up, you can have the entire family make up your own super hero gang!
80’s Girl
I remember when I was younger and dressing in a poodle skirt for a 50’s theme at school. It felt like the 1950’s were a century before my time, but it was my mom’s decade. Now that the 1980’s are making a comeback, I know how my mom must have felt when I dressed up as a 50’s girl–old. Bright colors (florescent colors are best), leg warmers, huge earrings, and teased hair will make you an 80’s pop star reminiscent of Courteny Cox in that one Bruce Springsteen video.
Halloween is coming up faster than you think. It’s time to start thinking about putting together an amazing and memorable costume. After all, Halloween only comes once a year. With our top Halloween costumes, there is a lot of room for creativity and to accessorize any way you want.
Why should the kids get to have all the fun? What are your plans for a Halloween Costume?
