It’s the middle of winter. The holidays are over. The weather is gloomy. Everyone is back in routine… a routine that seems to repeat itself over and over. As we’re getting ready to turn a calendar page and enter the month of love, here are 29 things to celebrate in February and ideas for how to add some fun to your days.
February 1st – Start the 14 Days of Love Challenge. Each day from the first of February until Valentines Day, focus on performing one act of love for someone around you – whether that’s baking them a special treat, spending time with them, making a handmade Valentine, etc. You get to be creative and get the whole family involved!
February 2nd – Groundhog Day. Celebrate by watching the movie and try out this fun groundhog day pancake tradition.
February 3rd – National Carrot Cake Day. Make and enjoy this moist, tender carrot cake recipe.
February 4th – National Homemade Soup Day. Try this easy chicken and rice soup, or your family favorite!
February 5th – World Nutella Day. Check out these chocolate lava nutella cookies.
February 6th – National Frozen Yogurt Day. Surprise the kids and go out for frozen yogurt after school!

February 8th – National Fly a Kite Day. If it’s too cold, or not windy enough, to fly a kite, make a kite together with your kids to try out another day.

February 11th – National Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk Day. Treat yourself and your family to cookies and milk. If there’s a spill? No big deal!

February 13th – Mardi Gras. Celebrate by making a king cake.
February 14th – Valentine’s Day. Pass out valentines, make cookies, have a special Valentine’s Day dinner, and most importantly spend time with the ones you love.

February 17th – National Random Acts of Kindness Day. See how many random acts of kindness you can do for people today!
February 18th – National Drink Wine Day. This may not be one that the whole family can participate in, but enjoy a glass of wine tonight as you wind down.
February 19th – Tug of War Day. Play a friendly game of tug of war.
February 20th – National Muffin Day. Try out this delicious but basic muffin recipe.
February 21st – National Sticky Bun Day. Make yummy and easy sticky buns to enjoy for breakfast for dessert.
February 22nd – National Wildlife Day. Learn about the wildlife in your area, and maybe even go hiking or to a nature center to see what you can observe in person.
February 23rd – National Banana Bread Day. Make your favorite banana bread recipe, or try these quick and easy banana bread muffins.
February 24th – National Tortilla Chip Day. Have nachos or taco salad for dinner.
February 25th – National Clam Chowder Day. Try out this contest-winning New England clam chowder.
February 26th – National Bacon Day. Make eggs and bacon for breakfast.
February 27th – National Polar Bear Day. Research polar bears and learn about conservation efforts.
February 28th – National Tooth Fairy Day. If any of your kids have a loose tooth, wiggle it, see if it falls out, and leave it for the tooth fairy! Or celebrate by reading Tooth Fairy by Audrey Wood.
February 29th – Leap Day. Play leap frog, or make a leap day time capsule.
