Have you noticed that recently, women and couples are announcing on social media the moment they find out if they are pregnant or not? I’m not super sure I would be announcing the MOMENT I found out- like, literally, as they read the pregnancy test, they tell the world on YouTube or Instagram- but there have been some cute social media announcements!
I personally waited a bit before I told anyone but my husband. After I saw my OB, and confirmed the pregnancy, I told my family at a diner at a relative’s house. I was about 3 months along at that point. With my second child, my husband let the news slip, and so we had to tell a bit earlier then that.
We did choose to find out the gender. With my first baby, and I wanted to get him things that would suit his gender for when he was born. I was also terribly excited just to know. It’s a surprise no matter when you find out- you just get to prepare if you know the gender ahead of time.
At the time of my pregnancy, I had a private blog that I announced the pregnancy and gender on. The site was mostly for friends I had made while traveling abroad that I didn’t see or speak to on the phone on a regular basis, but we chatted via email, Facebook, and our private sites. I posted photos of the ultrasounds, and our dog with a photo that said “I hear the new one won’t have fur” on it. It certainly was not as big of a party as you see on TV shows like 19 Kids and Counting, haha.
I don’t love the idea of sharing your pregnancy as soon as you know if you are or are not pregnant on social media, but that’s also because I think your husband, family, and friends should get to know before the general public. I would also be afraid to say something before I checked in with my doctor, but I guess I’m old fashioned sometimes. I DO love the cute and creative ways some couples are choosing to share that they are pregnant online- some of these photos are so cute. (All photo credits due Pinterest)
How cute is this? I don’t know if they are a couple, sisters, or friends- but I loved this announcement.
This was another favorite- complete with screaming baby number one, LOL. I thought it was the cutest thing, and humorous too.
We did something very similar with our dog, who was really “our baby” at the time (always was, really!)
Have you heard of Panorama? It’s pretty neat- an accurate way to get a peek at your baby as early as 9 weeks gestation. It’s a non invasive test that will help you get to know your baby.
About Panorama
