Children learn naturally through exploration and discovery, not through flashy gadgets and gizmos. The best way to encourage a life long love of learning is to share that journey with your child.
Brain Quest from Workman Publishing makes a series of flashcard games for children as young as two to encourage parent-child interaction.
There are two packs of cards, each joined at a corner so you do not have to worry about losing individual cards.
We checked out the Brain Quest for Threes and had a lot of fun playing these pre-literacy and early skills games together. As a parent, I want to play games and help my child learn, but I may not always know where to begin. Brain Quest provides parents with a great start, with plenty of age-appropriate visual and written cues. Once you get started, you’ll find yourself inventing new games with your child. The point is not to be right or wrong, but to just get thinking and talking–no batteries required.
The games are designed mainly as a jumping off point, so whether your child is ahead of the curve verbally or is taking her time, these cards will work at the kid’s level. You can have even more fun with features like Stump the Genius at www.BrainQuest.com.
