Cut the Cord! See it. Stream it. With Chromecast

It has been 3 years now since we bought our first Chromecast device and decided that we just did not want to pay for cable anymore.

We are a very busy family – always running and doing. Between work, school, and other activities, we are never home to watch TV anyway. And when we did watch TV, it was shows that we had recorded on the DVR. It really started to feel pointless to pay what we were paying to watch pre-recorded shows when you can do that with a casting device for nearly 1/8th of the cost!

We picked up a Google Chromecast when they first came out and have upgraded to the new devices yearly since. Chromecast is designed to make the most of the apps and entertainment already on your phone. Shows, movies, live TV, YouTube, photos and more. It’s all just a tap away from all of your family’s devices. We also have a Google Home device in nearly every room of the house. Excessive? Maybe. But we also love our music and its SO easy to say “Hey Google, play some Adele” and boom, it’s done. The same can be said for watching TV! All you have to do is connect your accounts like Netflix, Hulu, etc… and tell Google to play whatever it is you want to watch.

This comes in especially handy when I am babysitting my niece. When she wants to watch Strawberry Shortcake, or decides she is done with that and wants to watch another show, she just tells Google what she wants to watch. She is 5 – so that should tell you just how easy it is!

I cannot recommend the Chromecast, or cutting the cord and moving to a streaming device, enough. It is SO freeing to not have that monthly cable bill. Here are just a few of the features we love about the Google Chromecast device:

You can bet we are not a family who will be going back to cable any time soon – or probably ever. Even our kids, who are now adult-teenagers, will likely never pay for cable themselves. We were all pretty skeptical initially about cutting the cord and just how well it would work using a streaming device. But we have all enjoyed it and it was worth it!
