We posted an Easter Gift Guide last week and wanted to share some fun picks for kids for Passover, too. For some reason though, Jewish holidays seem to avoid the commercialization. After all, it is not like you would expect to see a plush doll of a Hebrew patriarch. Oh, wait!
I found not one, but two different plush Moses dolls. Choose from Moses Little Thinker ($18) or the more smiley Holy Folks Moses ($18). Hopefully your toddler won’t take this as a cue to pour the Manischewitz into the bath tub and reenact the parting of the Red Seas.
When I was a child, the Passover highlight was asking the four questions. The Box Girls now have a Passover Box of Questions, which makes a great hostess gift for a Seder.
Children love to play act and with this Wooden Passover Seder Set ($26), young children will have fun setting a Seder table.
Older kids might prefer the Melissa & Doug Passover 30 Piece Jigsaw ($12). A great way for children to put together the picture of Passover.
What kid of any age can resist a Big, Inflatable, Passover Matzah Ball? Not me. Just bring it out after they find the Afikomen.
There are a few cute tales for children for passover, including Nachshon, Who Was Afraid to Swim: A Passover Story and The Matzah Man: A Passover Story (a retelling of The Gingerbread Man). Another fun one is The Little Red Hen and the Passover Matzah, as long as you are not bothered by the stereotypical Yiddish exclamations. Lift the Flap books are always a hit with younger kids, and Passover Is Here! uses this fun technique to answer questions about Passover traditions. |
