Lightweight, compact, and easy to use baby gear is practically an obsession for me. I actually create spreadsheets with specs whenever I am making a purchase.
At just a pound heavier than my newborn son, the BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light is a new favorite of mine. Even in my post-partum state I can easily lift 11 pounds (and that’s including the carrying case).
What really sets the BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light apart from other ultra-lightweight travel cribs/playards is the easy set-up. On just my second attempt (check out my video, below), I had the crib ready to go in just 45 seconds…and the parents in this video are even quicker!
Just open up the frame and the legs pop out. Double-check that they are locked, add in the mattress, and everything is ready for your baby.
Take down is equally simple–you just pull out the legs to unlock and fold. The only tricky part is making sure the legs are folded compactly so you can fit the travel crib back in the case.
My infant really seems to enjoy the extra-thick mattress, which is an improvement over most playard mattresses.
Another useful feature is that the material can be removed from the frame and washed. All baby gear should be washable. By law.
This is a travel crib you can take anywhere and have ready in seconds, no matter how exhausted you are. You’ll be out on the deck of your vacation getaway before you can sing rock-a-bye baby…at least if the baby cooperates.
