“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Red Lobster. I received a gift card to facilitate my review promotional item as a thank-you for participating.”
Let’s face it; Monday is by far the most disliked day of the week. No one looks forward to it and with good reason (back to work, and now school for some). I decided I was going to make this Monday a little different and shake things up a bit.
Red Lobster is currently doing their “Endless Shrimp” promotion and I thought this would be a great way to start the week off. So I decided to take my oldest son Joseph and my mother out to dinner with me as way to celebrate the start of the new school year (my son starts kindergarten in a week!). I love seafood, especially shrimp, and Red Lobster is conveniently located in King of Prussia, just a few minutes away from where I live and work. Needless to say, I was watching the clock all day in anticipation!
When we arrived, I knew this was going to be a great evening together. The first thing Joseph did when we entered the restaurant was make a beeline for the live lobster tank. This was his FAVORITE part of the evening and thankfully, the hostess was very nice and showed him one…which he said smelled like the ocean (by which he meant fishy).
Our meal started with a delicious appetizer of Lobster and Crab stuffed mushrooms, Red Lobster’s Cheddar Bay Biscuits (addictive and my son LOVED them!), and very tasty Caesar salads with shaved cheese. For our entrees, I had the Parrot Isle Jumbo Coconut Shrimp with Lobster Mashed Potatoes on the side (YUM) and my mom had the Walt’s Favorite Shrimp with a baked potato. Joseph had the chicken tenders kid’s meal and it’s such a relief that Red Lobster has available options for kids who don’t like fish. His meal came with unlimited milk in a kid’s cup and the restaurant provided a place mat and crayons which kept him (and me) happy. My mom and I split a Sunset Passion Colada and ordered two iced teas.
The total for our meal came to $61, not bad at all for 3 people. I have to say that the portions were very generous, enough so that I was able to bring home 6 shrimp, 1/2 of Joseph’s French fries and my mom brought home 1/2 a potato and 6 shrimp as well. Red Lobster is a very affordable family evening out…and could have been even cheaper if we’d both done the Endless Shrimp and skipped the appetizers/drink (but our entrees were too delicious looking to pass up)!
