(Disclosure: This is a sponsored post, and I received samples of many of the toys featured. I was a part of the team that helped ASTRA create Neighborhood Toy Store Day in 2010, and I have worked with them as a consultant since 2009. However, my opinions are not influenced by my work with ASTRA. […]

Celebrating the 4th Annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day
Time to celebrate shopping local! As mentioned in more than one of my previous posts, the Amercian Specialty Toy Retailing Association (ASTRA) is near and dear to my heart and I love supporting their annual event called Neighborhood Toy Store Day which occurs this year on Saturday, November 9, 2013. I received several quality toys […]
Why I Heart My Neighborhood Toy Store
Small toy retailers hold a special place in my heart because I know that local toy stores support local communities with quality products for kids. My sons still enjoy the train table in our store nearby and now we shop for quality games to meet the growing intelligence of my boys. Our local store owner […]

Celebrate Neighborhood Toy Store Day
Toy stores across the country will be celebrating Neighborhood Toy Store Day on November 13, 2010. Neighborhood Toy Store Day will highlight the importance of independent toy stores not only to children and their families—but to their local areas as well. As part of Neighborhood Toy Store Day celebrations, hundreds of stores throughout the country are planning fun parties with clowns, magicians, face-painters, balloon-animals and more.
Supporting The Shop Around the Corner
Looking for a last-minute Hanukkah present or last-minute Christmas present? Visit your local toy store! There are so many benefits to shopping locally. One of the big benefits: education. Local stores provide personalized service. I have a great relationship with my local store owner, and I have appreciated some of their tips and product recommendations. My neighborhood toy store carries unique educational toys. But I bet you didn’t know that you are actually supporting your local schools when you shop locally.
Making It Fun To Be Neat
Is your playroom cluttered with blocks, LEGO toys, cars, and trains? While you could spend your precious free time organizing, a better strategy is to inspire your children to clean up their own toys. Purchasing the right storage solutions makes the job easier.
One of my favorite products is the ZipBin, a combination toy and organizational product. ZipBins convert between play mats and storage bins in a zip (sorry…I couldn’t resist the pun)
