When I heard that Dreamworks was turning the book into a film, I couldn’t wait to see what they were going to do with it. This past weekend at BlogHer, I was given the opportunity to see the film in advance. Based on how much I enjoyed the book, I was weary of how well it would translate to film.

Books Turned into Movies
Last Friday night, as a part of our project with Random House, The Random House Kids Read & Play Summer Learning Community, we were a part of a live chat of which the subject was “Books turned into Movies.” Of course the obvious ones were discussed first: Harry Potter, Twilight, The Cat in the Hat, Marley and Me, Pride & Prejudice, etc., but once we started getting deeper into the conversation, we were amazed at how many movies are based off of really phenomenal books.
Day Out With Thomas The Train
We are big Thomas the Tank Engine fans in our house. When we originally heard that he would be making an appearance at The Strasburg Railroad, a local historical railroad station and museum, we knew we had to be there.
Cars 2 Giveaway!
In celebration of the release of Cars 2, the fantastic sequel to Disney & Pixar’s original animated motion picture Cars, we’re hosting a Cars 2 prize pack give away sponsored by Disney! I was lucky enough to attend an advanced screening for media this past Saturday, and my three year old son adored it so much that he asked to see it again on opening night. You don’t want to miss this one.

Trudie Styler’s Weight Loss Yoga

Most exercise videos don’t keep my attention after a week or two, and the gym…well you try to get me there…good luck.
I have fallen in love with Trudie Styler’s Weight Loss Yoga DVD from Gaiam.
Educational iPad Apps for Kids from WordWorld
While I am a great believer in “unplugged play” and limited screen-time for young children, I recognize that technology and even television shows can enhance learning. One of my favorite educational television shows is WordWorld, and I recently had a chance to test their new iPad apps for kids.
Mars Needs Moms Movie Review
Mars Needs Moms, Disney’s newest movie, opens on March 11, 2011. Disney invited Mamanista to a special preview of the movie last weekend, and it didn’t disappoint.
The Last Unicorn – Silver Anniversary
When your all-time favorite childhood movies start having 25th Anniversaries, it is a little like hearing your high school prom song on the oldies station.
When I was eight, The Last Unicorn drew me into a magical world of wizards, heroes, and, of course, unicorns. I can still remember watching it during camp movie nights. I was curious to see how the movie held up over time…
