When I was growing up, jeans were “play clothes.” Years later, my jeans are among the most expensive items in my closet. I definitely don’t want to fingerpaint with my kids in $100+ designer jeans. If you’re looking for fashionable jeans that are inexpensive enough to play in, I highly recommend DeNiZEN Jeans from Levi’s (sold exclusively at Target stores).
6 Tips to Go Green for Halloween
Halloween does not have to mean lots of plastic trash and junk food! You can go green for Halloween: reuse, reduce, recycle!
Shopping for Clothes at Amazon?
At this point, everyone and their mother, heck everyone and their grandmother, probably knows that you can buy just about anything on Amazon.com.
But I have to admit that I never thought much about buying clothing on Amazon, even though I am comfortable purchasing clothing, especially children’s clothing, online. Amazon sent me a credit to buy some back-to-school clothing at their Kids’ Clothing Shop and, although I am not a total convert, I am impressed!
A Kid-Friendly Bookshelf: Guidecraft Universal Book Display
Our friends like to joke that there are books in every room of our house–and they aren’t far off.
We have struggled with not only finding enough room for our books but for also keeping them organized. And then comes the weekly frantic search for the library books that are due. Especially difficult to wrangle are the children’s books. We try to find a balance between keeping them accessible and in-sight but also neatly arranged.
The Guidecraft Universal Book Display does just that.
Million Moms Challenge Necklace Giveaway
As one of the community leaders for the Million Moms Challenge, I am learning more about the issues that unite us as mothers.
The goal of the Million Moms Challenge is to focus our collective will on the issues that most affect women and children on this planet…
There’s An App…for that Stain
My biggest laundry pet peeve is dealing with stains. I know it’s important to treat clothing properly, and I particularly want to keep my oldest’s clothing in good condition so it can be used as hand-me-downs for his younger brother. But after a long day at work, I don’t want to spend time googling stain removal. And now I don’t have to! My new Whirlpool Duet Washer has an app for that– right on the washing machine.

Washing My Cares Away With Whirlpool
As a newlywed, I didn’t care much about my washer and dryer. Oh…how things have changed. In my pre-kid days, I wore lots of dry-clean only clothing to work. I did two or three loads of wash a week: sheets, towels/whites, and our clothing. Now as the mom to two kids, I do at least one load a day because, as every mom knows, babies make a lot of laundry.
Project Runway: S9 E6 The Art of the Matter
The designs were just so disappointing to this former art history teacher.
None of these designs were “Avant Garde”. To be fair, though, it is very difficult to produce an avant garde look in an era that has already slaughtered all of its sacred cows…especially when you are shopping exclusively at a fabric store. Even the more successful avant garde looks of prior seasons were more successful as “art looks”, than they were truly avant garde…
Puzzle it Out: Guidecraft Educational Puzzles
Guidecraft sent me an assortment of their Montessori-style wooden puzzles and the entire family is impressed!
Because the puzzles are open-ended, the educational potential of these puzzles is limitless. Whether you are studying basic concepts, such as shapes, colors, relative size, or counting, or more advanced concepts, such multiplication or fractions, there are plenty of play possibilities to engage your child. Plus, the puzzles encourage creative problem solving, spatial relations, and fine motor control.
