I received a review sample of the Thomas and Friends Great Race Game several months ago. I finally had a chance to test it on a rainy afternoon when a friend and her children visited. Her 3 year-old and her 5 year-old played happily for several hours.
Wii Weight Loss Games: Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009
My hopes were high when I received a review sample of Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009 for the Nintendo Wii. My Nintendo Wii is an essential part of my exercise and fitness program, and I thought it would be fun to add more variety to my Wii Routine. (Click here for my Wii Fit review.)
The Amazon reviews of Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009 are mixed. Some love the workout, and others pan the poor graphics and slow response time. After trying the game, I can understand the love/hate reviews.
I’m Charmed
For Mother’s Day, I received a beautiful charm from Not Just Any Old Day. The solid sterling silver calendar charm is marked with a clear Swarovski crystal for my son’s April birthday. You can select from 12 different birthstones to customize your charm.
The pictures don’t really do this charm justice. Each charm is customized by the designer and then hand-antiqued, which gives the finished piece more of an heirloom quality rather than a cookie-cutter look. The Fleur De Lis gives the calendar charm a feminine touch.
Family Game Night: Wii Trivial Pursuit Review
Make family game night even more exciting with Trivial Pursuit for the Nintendo Wii. Play a video version of the classic game or try a new twist by playing in “Facts and Friends” mode.
Charming and Kooky: Two New Children’s Books from Neil Gaiman
The best children’s books stick in your head long past your childhood–and if you first encounter them as an adult, reading the stories to your own children, the tales transport you back to that time of childlike wonder and whimsy.
Although many of Neil Gaiman’s first children’s books (The Graveyard Book and Coraline) are macabre chapter books and better suited for school-aged children, Blueberry Girl and Crazy Hair are perfectly kooky reads for preschoolers.
Summer Art for Tweens
Summer is a great time for enrichment activities. Free from the daily grind of classes and homework, your child can explore his or her creative side.
Shop for art supplies on sale at local craft stores, or find wholesale arts and crafts supplies online at DollarDays. Many moms have a craft box (or craft closet) full of supplies to keep their kids occupied during school vacations and on rainy weekends.
While some parents splurge on summer art classes and camps, activity books can inspire at a much lower price tag. LittleMissMatched’s The Artist in Me! costs under $12 at Amazon.
Care Bears Contest
I received a review copy of the newest Care Bears DVD: Care Bears: Cheer, There & Everywhere. It features eight different stories all about working together, friendship, helping each other, and sharing.
Summer Reading: North of Beautiful
School’s almost out. You may be looking for great summer books for your teen. I had a chance to review Justina Chen Headley’s third book, North of Beautiful. And I highly recommend it to teen girls and their mothers.
Terra Rose Cooper, has a port wine stain covering the left side of her face. She tries to cover her birthmark with heavy makeup and undergoes numerous painful procedures in an attempt to remove it. In Terra’s mind, her birthmark defines her. She works out compulsively in an attempt to maintain a perfect body since she believes her figure is the only thing her boyfriend values about her.
Splish, Splash Baby Doll’s Taking a Bath
Toddlers seem to just love to play in the water. In the bath, at the sink, or running through the sprinkler, getting wet is tons of fun.
Like many little girls, my daughter has also grown very attached to her dolls. She loves the cloth ones and does not want to put them away while she plays in the water.
So, the Tidoo Lutin Bright Doll Corolle sent us has become a favorite around here anytime we’re splashing around.
