Now that kids are back to school and life is in full force it’s totally time to get down to business with the meals. I try as hard as possible to keep my son healthy, especially since I grew up battling the bulge. It’s not always an easy task to get your kids to really and truly understand the value of health and eating well! And if your house is like mine, you’re always fighting the food fits. I’ve learned a few lessons along the way and would love to share my tips with you! Remember..I’m not a doctor or dietitian.
Swim with Friends and Help Aflac Fight Pediatric Cancer
I have been an administrator for a non profit organization called The Believe Box which sends gifts to children with cancer, for the past few months. This has given me the opportunity to see how widespread pediatric cancer is. I have heard of many children recently diagnosed in my area, and hundreds more through facebook […]

Get Wild! July is National Park and Recreation Month
Did you know that July is National Park and Recreation Month?
Having clean, well-equipped parks near our house has encouraged us all to be more active and to spend more time outdoors. My boys love visiting the park, and the playground with its twisty slides, bridges and swings is a favorite. I volunteered as a Parks & Recreation board member for a few years while I was serving on our local school board. In fact, my son now attends the soccer program that we discussed opening while I was on the park board.
Share Our Strength: Summer Meals for Hungry Kids

Finally: a LifeProof™ iPhone Case
As a mother to two boys under four, everything in my life and home has become a toy, a prop, or something to play catch with. It can be exhausting (and nearly impossible) to keep all of my valuables out of reach of the kids. My cell phone is especially alluring. It has a bright […]
Save SNAP
As I write this post, legislation that allocates funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known and frequently referred to as food stamps, is on the table in Congress. Substantial funding cuts are pending. While there are many congressmen who are working to reauthorize the Farm Bill (the official legislation which provides the […]
Stay Rear-Facing Longer: Britax Advocate 70 CS Review and Giveaway!
Saying a baby product is “a life saver” is a cliche but in the case of Britax car seats, it is the literal truth. I accidentally crash-tested our children’s Britax car seats a couple of years ago and, thankfully, the children emerged without a scratch.
Later, I visited Britax’s factory…
