Summer is my favorite season. My kids love swimming, playing and dining outside. Aside from battling pesky mosquitoes during our evening meals, our biggest outdoor challenge is finding a way to clean patio furniture and grimy pool toys.
Save SNAP
As I write this post, legislation that allocates funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known and frequently referred to as food stamps, is on the table in Congress. Substantial funding cuts are pending. While there are many congressmen who are working to reauthorize the Farm Bill (the official legislation which provides the […]
Time for Bed, Time for Bunk Beds
When I come home from a long day after work, there’s nothing I like to do more than lay down on my bed, even if only for a few moments before I’m yanked off to the next chore. If I had to climb up a ladder to get to this cozy piece of heaven I’m sure I would be a very unhappy camper.
Rewind 20 or 25 years ago and the opposite of this was true. Why kids love bunk beds quite as much as they do is beyond me. There’s something rather magical about sleeping so close to the ceiling and as a parent, the amount of room that can be saved with a bunk bed is not something to be taken for granted.

Once you learn basic knots and friendship bracelet patterns, making a bracelet is easy. The hardest part is keeping your strands untangled and in order. Of course, when I was a kid, I didn’t have My Friendship Bracelet Maker, which is way cooler and more effective than the piece of cardboard and scotch tape I used to carry around.
Smash Your Food
First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign has raised awareness about the problem of childhood obesity. A new app called Smash Your Food, now available in the Apple App Store for $2.99, aims to make it easier for parents and kids to learn about healthy foods together.
Dr Browns Feeding System
I recently received several of Dr Browns feeding items. I’ve been using them with my son and am so very impressed with the quality and ease of all of the products.
My son was 100% breastfed up until 6 months when we starting introducing solids. He absolutely refused every bottle that I tried. Of course I wanted him to be able to eat if I had to run out so I continued in my quest to find something that he will use…
