I’m only in my mid-30s, but I have the beginning signs of arthritis in my foot and ankle. Nearly every woman in my family develops arthritis eventually, so I used to think joint pain and stiffness was inevitable as I aged. I recently discovered that arthritis is the nation’s leading cause of disability. One in […]
Debunking Myths About Food Safety in the Home
Many of us grew up thawing frozen meat on the counter and keeping leftovers far too long. Times have changed. Now that I’m a mom, I make an effort to serve my family only food that I’m sure is safe. The USDA has food safety recommendations to help us keep our families safe from the […]
Have You Discovered “The WooHoo Factor”?
As a mom, I know that many of the toys advertised on TV look amazing but then sit unused in the toy box. When I enter my local toy store, I see items that I know my kids will love and use. With a special eye for relevance and all out fun, small toy store owners handpick […]

I volunteered as a Parks & Recreation board member for a few years while I was serving on our local school board. In fact, my son now attends the soccer program that we discussed opening while I was on the park board.

Plan Toys Pull-Along Snail
We love the beautiful eco-friendly toys from Plan Toys. In fact, the sweet Pull-Along Snail inspired one of my son’s babysitters to write the following poem.

Most of us can probably count on our children being fed to their bodies’ content at any moment of any day. But millions of kids and parents face the summer with worry; the breakfasts and lunches being fed to them during school will be missing.
Save SNAP
