You Can Save a Life: Learn CPR
National CPR and AED Awareness Week (the first week in June) is a great time to learn or brush up on this vital skill.
According to the American Heart Association, “about 80 percent of all out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in private residential settings” and “effective bystander CPR, provided immediately after cardiac arrest, can double a victim’s chance of survival.” CPR is also important as the weather warms and people begin to open their pools for summer fun. In case of drowning, CPR can be the difference between life and death.
But I don’t need statistics to understand the importance of CPR…

loth diapering is environmentally-friendly and costs less than using disposable diapers, but the majority of moms still use disposable diapers. You’ve probably heard stories from your mother or grandmother about the hassle of using traditional cloth diapers. For me, that was a factor in choosing disposable diapers.

Dear Maddie
Darling little Maddie. You were taken from this world much too soon. I wish I could play with you and cuddle you and know you for the sweet little girl you are. More than that, I wish I could hand you to your mommy and daddy so they could hold you once more and forever.
I cannot imagine the burden of their sorrow at losing you.
Since my wish is not to be granted in this lifetime, I will wish instead that your legacy will be one of hope for other children.

Our House…is a very, very Green House
Children are natural ecologists. They love to play outside and appreciate the joys of discovering rocks, plants, and animals along the way.
What they need a little help with is conservation–learning to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Shutting off the lights, taking shorter showers, and opening a window instead of turning on the air conditioning are all ways that even the littlest person can make a difference.
