We spend a lot of time in our kitchens. Whether you’re entertaining a crowd, finding a creative way to use up leftovers, or whipping up a quick dinner for the family, you want your kitchen to be a space where creativity flows and stress decreases. And let’s face it, the busier we are, the more […]
Shark Rocket Powerhead: The Vacuum for Hard Floors
Shark has a clever new vacuum that shines on both carpets and wood floors. The Shark Rocket Powerhead (I received model AH452 to review) is a light and compact vacuum. The brush, motor, filters, and dirt collection are all in the module that rolls on the floor. The stalk and handle really just serve as […]
Energy Efficient Lighting with the GE Reveal Light Bulb
*I was sent this product to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.** We have been on a spring cleaning, make-our-home-more-energy-efficient kick lately (a result of the unusually harsh winter we had in Philadelphia with its sky high electric bill? Possibly.) Switching to higher efficiency light bulbs has been on our list, but we […]
Shark Sonic Duo Scrubs Hard Floors and Carpets for Reluctant Cleaners
“The house is clean, mom, who’s coming over?” Anyone who knows me understands I am not much of a housekeeper. Sure, I could blame it on the three kids and two cats but to be honest, cleaning was never one of my talents. In fact, my husband picks up a lot of the slack in […]
How Do You Juggle It All? Cleaning Tips from a Working Mom
During my first pregnancy, I daydreamed about peaceful days spent strolling through the park or rocking a sleeping infant in my arms. While I love being a mom, my life is more chaotic than I’d envisioned. I have two young boys and work full-time outside the home. The competing demands of children and clients mean […]
Holiday Clothing Care
Before I had children, I would hand-wash lingerie and other delicate clothing in the sink and then hang it to dry. With a preschooler and a baby in the house, it’s harder to find the time.
The Whirlpool Duet Washer has a hand-wash cycle, which I used for delicate sweaters, blouses, lingerie and silk hosiery. Using the hand-wash cycle saved time and effort, and my items came out looking as good as new.
A Sixth Sense for Doing Laundry
Did you know that about 90% of the energy in a typical laundry cycle is spent heating the water? While hot water may be necessary for certain stains or for running a sanitizing/allergen cycle, using hot water to do laundry is a waste of energy. Plus, washing clothing in cold water allows fabrics to retain their color and strength longer.
Washing My Cares Away With Whirlpool
As a newlywed, I didn’t care much about my washer and dryer. Oh…how things have changed. In my pre-kid days, I wore lots of dry-clean only clothing to work. I did two or three loads of wash a week: sheets, towels/whites, and our clothing. Now as the mom to two kids, I do at least one load a day because, as every mom knows, babies make a lot of laundry.
Frigidaire Finale
Thank you for coming along with me as I’ve tested out the new Gallery Collection from Frigidaire. Remember that you can also win Frigidaire appliances and earn a $1 donation for Save the Children by pledging to Make Time for Change…
Home, Home on the Range
The last of the sweet suite of Frigidaire appliances I received distinguishes itself with its intuitive features. Actually, this is two appliances: the Range and the mounted Microwave. Like the rest of the Gallery appliances, the range and microwave look sharp. Even more importantly, they have a large number of time-saving and convenient options.
