I’ve fallen in love with GOOD Maker (maker.GOOD.is) — crowd-sourcing for a better world. Since discovering the GOOD Maker platform, it’s become my new “go-to” social media distraction. GOOD Maker inspires me to propose a good idea, to evaluate and vote for solutions– which is a way more productive use of my time than pinning a bunch […]
Discover the Best Toys for Kids
Where you do your holiday shopping matters just as much as what you buy. Supporting local stores provides real benefits to your community. Local businesses create jobs and help fund your town’s essential services such as public schools, police and fire departments through their tax dollars. (Read more about why my experience serving on a […]
There’s a NEW Facebook game in town: Tail Towns Friends by Ganz
If there wasn’t enough drama on Facebook, a new game called Tail Towns Friends by Ganz is taking the gaming world by storm with intriguing story lines, fun interactive goals and a little mystery and suspense built in. I’ll confess that I am not a fan of Facebook games, but I do enjoy Tail Towns […]
Have You Discovered “The WooHoo Factor”?
As a mom, I know that many of the toys advertised on TV look amazing but then sit unused in the toy box. When I enter my local toy store, I see items that I know my kids will love and use. With a special eye for relevance and all out fun, small toy store owners handpick […]

Get Wild! July is National Park and Recreation Month
Did you know that July is National Park and Recreation Month?
Having clean, well-equipped parks near our house has encouraged us all to be more active and to spend more time outdoors. My boys love visiting the park, and the playground with its twisty slides, bridges and swings is a favorite. I volunteered as a Parks & Recreation board member for a few years while I was serving on our local school board. In fact, my son now attends the soccer program that we discussed opening while I was on the park board.
Plan Toys Pull-Along Snail
We love the beautiful eco-friendly toys from Plan Toys. In fact, the sweet Pull-Along Snail inspired one of my son’s babysitters to write the following poem.
Take a Look, It’s On Your iPad…Reading Rainbow!
I loved the way classic Reading Rainbow episodes featured books with few bells & whistles, and I credit the show with inspiring a lifelong love of reading. Since I’m a fan, I was delighted to learn that Reading Rainbow has returned in the form of an educational iPad app.
BigJigs® Fairy Town Train Set
I’ve been impressed recently by the toy market’s commitment to reversing typical child gender roles. Last year, for example, Corolle released a green and blue toy baby stroller for little boys to push around. I’m a firm believer that children should be able and encouraged to play with whichever toys they’re drawn to; whether it’s […]
