Now that kids are back to school and life is in full force it’s totally time to get down to business with the meals. I try as hard as possible to keep my son healthy, especially since I grew up battling the bulge. It’s not always an easy task to get your kids to really and truly understand the value of health and eating well! And if your house is like mine, you’re always fighting the food fits. I’ve learned a few lessons along the way and would love to share my tips with you! Remember..I’m not a doctor or dietitian.
Swim with Friends and Help Aflac Fight Pediatric Cancer
I have been an administrator for a non profit organization called The Believe Box which sends gifts to children with cancer, for the past few months. This has given me the opportunity to see how widespread pediatric cancer is. I have heard of many children recently diagnosed in my area, and hundreds more through facebook […]
Arm & Hammer Spin Brush Solution!
When Arm & Hammer asked me to participate in their Spin Brush Challenge, I decided that the biggest dental challenge in my household was getting my four-year-old son to brush for as long as he needs to (2 minutes!)
Save SNAP
As I write this post, legislation that allocates funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known and frequently referred to as food stamps, is on the table in Congress. Substantial funding cuts are pending. While there are many congressmen who are working to reauthorize the Farm Bill (the official legislation which provides the […]
Arm & Hammer Spinbrush Challenge

Save Babies Through Screening

That’s why newborn screening is so important—even lifesaving. We’ve teamed up with Save Babies Through Screening Foundation, a nonprofit organization that advocates for newborn screening, to spread the word.
Get Motivated with a Health Challenge

Dance class lets out in five minutes and then we have a Daisy Troop meeting; Dad is staying late at work and mom has a deadline tomorrow. What are the odds we are ordering pizza tonight?
One of my biggest health challenges is finding the time to cook. I love to cook. Before we had kids, our apartment kitchen was probably one of the few in Manhattan that saw regular use. With three young children, though, we order take out more times than I would like to admit.
Holiday Clothing Care
Before I had children, I would hand-wash lingerie and other delicate clothing in the sink and then hang it to dry. With a preschooler and a baby in the house, it’s harder to find the time.
The Whirlpool Duet Washer has a hand-wash cycle, which I used for delicate sweaters, blouses, lingerie and silk hosiery. Using the hand-wash cycle saved time and effort, and my items came out looking as good as new.
4 Healthier Halloween Treat Alternatives
Come next weekend, all anybody will be thinking about is candy. Kids will be dreaming of it and planning for it, adults will be combing nearby drug and food stores for bags of it and everybody will be thinking about the nutritional side effects-whether it be the future of your children’s teeth or your own waistline.
